• October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - All women are at risk for breast cancer, and a woman's risk increases with age. At age 20, 1 in 1,838; at age 40, 1 in 70; and at age 60, 1 in 28. Over your lifetime, chances are 1 in 8.¹ The good news? If breast cancer is found early, women have more treatment options and a better chance of surviving.
• Affordable Health Cards available at Winn-Dixie and CVS/pharmacy! - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida is the first to offer Health Cards where you shop. Our Health Cards make it easy to get the health care that you and your family members need - at a price you can afford. Look for our display in the pharmacy of your local Winn-Dixie store and in CVS/pharmacy in November.
• H1N1 (swine flu) - The H1N1 flu virus (also known as swine flu) continues to spread throughout the U.S. and around the world. The H1N1 flu virus spreads from person-to-person, similar to the way that regular seasonal flu viruses spread. As we move into the time of year for seasonal flu, BCBSF wants to help you and your family stay well.
• Health care reform - Health care reform is the number one issue in our country and the ongoing debate will continue to intensify with Congress returning from its recess next week.
